One of the most respected surfers in the world, Gerry Lopez, fell in love with Mt. Bachelor many years ago, and decided to ditch the laid back lifestyle of Hawaii for Bachy’s many wind-lipped white waves. Gerry has been living in Bend, Oregon for some time now, but his Big Wave Challenge is just getting started. The Big Wave attendee count has grown exponentially over the last few years because it is always one of the most unique courses, which evolves with every passing season. The fast-paced course was a big challenge even for many of the top pro snowboarders in our industry, but the Bachelor locals ripped the course with no problem. Local lovers Ashley Thornton and Forest Devorre managed to pull of the sickest runs of the day and land 1st place each, not to mention an all-expense payed surf trip to Hawaii.
