This weekend we grabbed some babes, a couple of wieners, and headed past the casinos of South Lake Tahoe into the hills near Kirkwood to Patchfest 2014. It was sponsored by some pretty rad brands including Smokin Snowboards, Spring Break Snowboards, Stinky, and Local Knits. We pitched a tent, threw on some bug spray and started boarding. There were soul shredders, stick-and-poke tattooers, rail jocks, drag queens, party animals and maybe a few MMA fighters. All brought together on one mountain top. It was a great time all weekend people boarded til after the sun went down; sessioning the quarter pipe, handmade-12-foot-high-closeout, and down rails. Then partied around camp fires, all kinds of ways, until the sun came up.
The Brewers were throwing down on the rails and using their eagle scout skills to build fires. Silver Serino keeping it classy on the close out. The Too Hard babes – Fancy and Taylor were being naughty and tag teaming features. Cory Smith and Smokin Jay were doing…something, somewhere. Young bucks, Jake Vert and Dan Danzberger were there to impress. People were happy with smiles on their faces weather it was their first time seeing snow in 20 years or chasing the endless winter.
All in all, this was a great event got to catch up with old friends and create memories with new ones. If you are ever invited to camp out on a glacier with a large group of people who have a passion for snowboarding, I strongly urge you to give it a try. Big thanks to Andrew Guddat for putting this event on. See you all next year!
