These days we are seeing a lot of evolution with regards to snowboarding competitions. We have RedBull’s Double Pipe, Mountain Dew’s Peace Pipe, The Holy Bowly, but nothing really merges old features with young bodies quite like YoBeat’s Mogul Mayhem. Nothing really says snowboard progression like ripping off skier competitions and doing backflips into a field of moguls, which is like riding through a minefield to an ACL. Not to mention, Stan and the legend Jeff Holce the Athlete were judging… with clipboards!
It was a comp crafted by the Gods, hosted in heaven –Timberline Lodge–and grounded in progression, and that’s what we at Shoulda’ Danished love; progression, progression, progression… and RedBull, A LOT of RedBull! That’s what really brought us out here.
May 3rd has been circled in our calendar for months and our training schedule was heavier than the new Connect the Dots teaser! Leg presses, crunches, 360s, backflips, yoga, steroids, protein shakes…. and when it came down to it, we f*cking threw DOWN! The Union bindings, Poler Bags, Stance Socks, Coal Headwear, and that fresh ass DC snowboard was all going to be ours! This was going to be the time in our lives when we finally prove to our Mom’s that we had a future and that we didn’t just make lame snowboard musicals, dress up like women, and rap for no reason… or so we thought…
We lost, not a single prize was ever in sight, no pictures, no video coverage, it’s like we weren’t even there. F*ck it, we are going back to Canada.
